ABOUT DD’s
Here at DD’s, we are committed to being as environmentally responsible as possible. We buy our hardwoods from our supplier’s cull pile, which is the wood that is not good enough for commercial use. These pieces have what we believe are the characteristics that make our products more beautiful and unique, such as uneven graining and color shades, distinctive knots and patterns. All of our cedar designs are built with cedar fence board cutoff pieces which we source from several fence builders. We rescue these pieces from their eventual life in a landfill. We are meticulous at saving most of our scrap wood for use on other items such as inlays, weaving strips, and accents. We collect our saw dust and shavings and deliver these to a local organic farm to be added to their composting. Wine barrel items are repurposed from rescued wine barrels, and we pride ourselves that nearly all barrel parts are used to construct our products. We only use natural or low VOC finish products, such as beeswax, mineral oil and water-based finishes. We promise to always keep the well-being of Mother Earth as a top priority.
